Description: This trip is a birding trip for experienced and novice bird watchers - AND - participants will be sure to see some birds they've not seen before. We should see 40-50 species including· Common loon· Horned grebe· Ross's goose· 10 different ducks· Bald eagle· Long-billed dowitcher and other shorebirds· American and Sprague's pipits· Lark bunting· Many more
Details: Meet at the Hagerman Visitor Center* at 9:00 am. Bring binoculars, scopes, bird books, lunch, water, etc. Hagerman details may be found at http://www.fws.gov/southwest/refuges/texas/hagerman/
Directions: From Dallas, go north on Highway 75 to Sherman FM 1417 exit, then north 13 miles on FM 1417 to refuge sign and left 6 miles to entrance. From U.S. 82, turn north on Southmayd Road (4 miles east of Sadler and 7.5 miles west of Sherman). Follow signs to Visitor Center. Allow 1-1/2 hours from the Metroplex.
* Note: Visitor Center is temporarily located in a trailer at the maintenance area near the end of Refuge Road. Look for a ramp up to the door and several banners on the railing.
